What is SEMCOM?

SEMCOM (Sardar Gunj Mercantile Co-op Bank Ltd. (Anand) English Medium College of Commerce and Management) is a constituent college of Charutar Vidya Mandal University. SEMCOM was established in the year 1997 by Charutar Vidya Mandal. SEMCOM is accredited with Grade 'A' by NAAC (2009-2020).

Which Programs are offered by SEMCOM?

SEMCOM offers four Undergraduate Programs

Bachelor of Business Administration (Information Technology Management) (Hons.)
Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.)
Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.)
Bachelor of computer Application (BCA)

The college also offers one Postgraduate Program - Master of Commerce (M.Com.).
The college also offers Doctor of Philoposhy (Ph.D) program of CVM University.

What is a self-financed College?

A self-financed (also known as SF) college is one which does not receive any financial funds/aid from the Central or state government.

What is the admission procedure at SEMCOM?

As per CVM University Rules & Regulations as well as rules laid down by the college, which are subject to revision from time to time.

What is the Admission procedure for International Students?

International (NRI/Foreign) Students who have passed “A level” examination equivalent to 12th Standard examination, and without compartment in any subject are eligible for admission in any undergraduate programs. While for admission at Post Graduate Program, students who have passed Bachelor’s Degree in any stream under 10+2+3 or an examination recognized as an equivalent thereto with at least 40% marks, are eligible. Further, admission to International student is subject to eligibility criteria of Sardar Patel University, and Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Do I need work experience for Admission at SEMCOM?

For UG admission, there is no need of work experience. For PG admission, we prefer student with work experience.

Is Hostel Facility is Available at SEMCOM?

Yes, Hostel facility is provided by parent organization Charutar Vidya Mandal. Separate Hostels for Boys and Girls are there, within walking distance from the college.

What is fees structure of College?

The fees of College are as per norms of Charutar Vidya Mandal University, which are revised from time to time.

Is there any scholarship facility?

Yes, Scholarship is available to economicaly weak students from Charutar Vidya Mandal subject to Academic Performance. Students can also receive scholarship from Government as well as Caste Trusts.

Can I pay Fees in Installment?

No, full fees should be paid at the time of admission. However, payment of fees in installments may be allowed to meritorious students coming from poor economic background.

Can I study Part-time at SEMCOM?

No. SEMCOM offers only full time Under-graduate and Post-graduate Programs. However, one can join Diploma programs at SEMCOM which run during evening Hours.

What is classroom teaching like at SEMCOM?

SEMCOM has dedicated faculty members with very high levels of competence and dedication. Time devoted to each subject in the time table is as per University specification. In addition concerned subject teachers take extra classes as and when required. Computerized study and practice material are given to the students. Class room teaching is very interactive and extensive use of teaching aids like OHP, charts, audio-video material is made.

What is the examination system at SEMCOM?

Internal prelim examinations of 60 marks of full syllabus are conducted at the end of Semester. In addition, subject wise Assignment test is also mandatory. Intensive training and practice are imparted before the exams. Question banks are maintained for the convenience of the students.

What are the various aspects of college discipline?

Discipline is very strict at SEMCOM, especially regarding attendance and behavior in college. Attendance is compulsory and 80% attendance is required to be allowed for internal and external examinations. Mobile phones, chewing gum etc are strictly prohibited within the college premises.

What are the infrastructure facilities available at SEMCOM?

Spacious, ventillated and well-maintained classrooms.
Clean Washrooms on each floor.
RO-treated drinking Water on each floor.
Two fully equipped, air-conditioned computer labs with total 140 computers with access to Internet.
An excellent Auditorium equipped with multimedia projector and Dolby Sound System with the capacity of 170 persons.

What kind of Placement Support is offered by SEMCOM?

College has active Placement cell. It renders its support to its UG and PG students in preparing their profile and giving them enough guidance to select the right company for internship program too, as well as inviting companies on the campus.

How do I get Transcript?

You need to fill application form of Transcript available at College office. Attach photocopy of all marksheets of your course. Fee is Rs. 500. You will get your transcript within one week of submission of form from the college office only.

How do I get Bonafide Certificate?

Fill the Bonafide Certificate form available at College office. Take your class counselor signature and then after Head of the institution signature. You will receive the Bonafide Certificate within one day of submission of form from the college office.
